Polarizing filters

Polarizing filters remove non-metalic reflections and intensifies colors when used properly. Below are examples of the same image
with the main difference being the orientation of the filter. Notice the subtle variations in color of the Walt Disney Concert Hall,
located in downtown Los Angeles. Look at the intensity of the blue sky versus the top of the building. I did not use a tripod so there
is a slight variation in the framing of the photos.

When purchasing a polarizing filter, be sure to get a circular, not a linear, filter. Linear filters cause focusing problems with digital
cameras. Polarizing filters reduce the amount of light entering the lens, so know that your exposure will be one to maybe two F
stops lower, which either reduces your shutter speed or increases your aperture (lens opening). Increasing aperture reduces your
depth of field.
